With the ever changing and evolving landscape of the Texas-Red Dirt music scene, you might be asking yourself, what's next?  That's the good part of the business, there's always something new and fresh.  Now while we all love established acts, sometimes the fans just want more.  Over the past decade, we have seen an influx of new talent onto the scene, and some might say we are currently experiencing an over-saturation of the market. While in some instances that might be true, I believe it allows for a larger, farther reaching, smarter fan base.  Now days, it seems as though there is an act for every taste, no matter how different it might be.  While no two listeners have the same taste, what we all can agree on is, there is no lack of great talent out there.

One act new to the scene, who has caught my interest as of late, is the Jimmy Jones Band.  A diverse group of talent-rich artists, hailing from Cleburne, Texas, home to such names as Randy Rogers, Steve Helms, and Sonny Burgess, the Jimmy Jones Band is taking a serious yet youthful approach to making music.  I sat down with Jimmy recently to discuss music, life, and share some great stories.  Jimmy who can rarely be found without a guitar in hand, had this to say when I asked him about how he feels when he plays: "I pour my heart out to the six strings and the microphone."  Now while this might sound cliché coming from a singer-songwriter, his sentiments are true, and it shows though his emotionally rich song stylings.

A soft spoken man with the ability to grab your attention when he plays, Jimmy Jones is definitely an artist who will draw a crowd, and capture you heart through his  songs.  Recently named as a finalist for the Ranch Factor 2012 contest, Jimmy realizes the bar has been set high when it comes to expectations in today's music.  When asked about the future of the Jimmy Jones Band, Jimmy said:" Respected by my peers as a Texas country singer-songwriter.  I'd like to be selling records, playing big shows, home and far away from home."  With Jimmy, what you see is what you get.  Jimmy is a genuine, honest, spiritual man who is hard-working and dedicated to his craft.  As in true singer-songwriter form, Jimmy is constantly writing new music, and he shared a few of those new songs with us.  Songs we hope make it to the studio.  So if you're looking for a new artist and sound to add to the IPOD, check out the Jimmy Jones Band.  I'll leave you guys with this great Jimmy Jones Band original.

Music is one of the few things in life that will always be.  A song can lift you up when you are sad, help you heal when times are rough, or give you a way to express a feeling or idea you thought there were no words for.  Music simply is a staple of life.  Every person, young or old, always has that one song that gets them every time they hear it.  It truly is an art form, and musicians can spend their whole life as students of that art.  But isn't that what life is all about? John Michael Montgomery said it best, "Life's a dance you learn as you go.", and music is what keeps us dancing.  Be it an up-tempo beat that gets you grooving on the dancefloor, or that slow ballad that makes you grab your love, pull them in close, and help you connect, never stop dancing.  This is Texas Red Dirt Roads.
